Damien Jurado
Damien Jurado is an American indie rock singer/songwriter from Seattle, Washington. Damien was an artist before he was a musician. He didn't learn to play guitar until he was 20, with lessons + advice from his roommate Jeremy Enigk. As Damien's songwriting unfolded, he began to make homemade tapes. He quickly amassed a huge volume of songs, and these prolific early recordings made their way to Jonethan Poneman. Sub Pop's founder invited him to join the roster, and Damien's career began with the Motorbike 7" in 1995.
After releasing albums that varied from haunting [Ghost of David] to pop [I Break Chairs] Damien continued a new era with Bloomington label Secretly Canadian. With this new home, he has continued to diversify + mystify, every album a new take on the story-based elements of folk. After years of collaborating with partners Eric Fisher and Jenna Conrad, Jurado has returned to his solo voice.
